United Healthcare, the nation’s largest health insurance company, may have a lot of explaining to do when some of its biggest corporate customers find out what’s coming out in a Las Vegas courtroom.

We are all getting a fascinating look at the apparent greed of big insurance. Some ER doctors in Nevada are suing United for millions after the health insurance company concocted a plan to dramatically gut payments to the docs under the guise of reducing the cost of health care, while at the same time stuffing its pockets with an extra billion dollars in profits in a single year.

Wait, it gets better. It turns out United knew that some of their big corporate customers were going to pay higher premiums even thought the docs were getting less but just didn’t tell them.

All this so United could make billions more. I wonder if their sales team ever mentioned that little tidbit.
