Breaking News: In our family injustice investigation in Waller County, a powerful political real estate company wants to keep us — and you — in the dark.

Take a look at what happened in Waller County when we tried to make the records of a politically explosive, but secret, divorce case public.
My team was threatened with arrest just for shooting video through a window outside the court.
We wanted to give folks a view of what’s happening in Judge Robert Kern’s courtroom.
After a day in his court, the competency of this 82-year-old judge is now part of our investigation.
We’re working to unseal the records in the divorce case involving politically powerful NewQuest Properties co-founder Jay Sears.
Judge Kern denied his wife a jury trial for almost two years.
But while we watched, Kern finally granted a jury trial for this July—even Sears’ lawyers acknowledged the judge had violated the Constitution.
NewQuest is fighting requests by Sears’ wife to learn just how much money her husband has been making in dozens of real estate deals.
This may be the most expensive divorce case in Texas.
Stay tuned—our fight for transparency is far from over.
