It means a lot of money for companies like CAREFOR, and there is a case in New Braunfels, Texas that must be told.
It involves a billionaire, judges, and a family torn apart. Is a young man being CARED FOR or is this CAPTIVITY IN COMAL…
Who can forget the chants of “Free Britney?”
We all watched as the singer fought to get freedom from a crooked guardianship. She felt like a prisoner, and so does the young man you are about to meet.
We all know a mother’s love knows no bounds. But fear has kept Elizabeth Weston away for two years, along with past threats of arrest. Fear of a courthouse she believes is corrupt because of the power of her very rich ex-husband.
This was the moment she conquered that fear.
“I have flown from Tennessee secretly, have flown in here, seen my son because shamefully I’m required to do that. Flying in secretly,” says Elizabeth.
A Comal County court now controls Glenn’s life under an expensive court-ordered guardianship that has already cost millions.
Movies have been made about the horrible things that can happen to people in guardianship. We’ve done investigations into the company getting rich doing them: CareFor. Investigations into judges who have ignored the warning signs.
Glenn Weston was once a world-class archer, renowned for his deadly aim. Now Glenn is the target of a guardianship that claims he is insane, “a bipolar schizophrenic.”
“I was sentenced with no limit. I could be here the rest of my life,” Glenn notes.
Is this what full-time care is supposed to do to you?
“I have been forcibly injected many times due to a means, threat of punishment, orders, being held down and forcibly injected.”
Glenn says he is now a virtual prisoner on this ranch in rural Marion, Texas, near New Braunfels. Forced to take medicine he says is making him sick, crazy.
We talked on the front porch of Glenn’s small cabin about his quest for freedom and his fight to be back near his mom.
“I call it captivity. I’ve been a prisoner. I feel like my nation’s betrayed me.”
Is he being cared for, or is this captivity? Why is a virtual prisoner in the middle of nowhere?
“It just shows the level of corruption that goes on in this town.”
His mom was afraid to tell us this story. Miss Ruby isn’t.
“I will stand up for every single person that has had this unjust company get into their lives and harm them. And I want everybody to know the truth.”
Glenn is under the supervision and care of Ann Adams of CareFor. It was during secret phone calls and texts that Glenn would tell his mom the things that were allegedly happening behind closed doors, describing to her how the medications CareFor workers were giving him made him feel.
Glenn was constantly in and out of clinics, doctors telling him the same thing.
CareFor is being accused of failing to provide Glenn with basic medical care while charging $40,000 a month to be in charge of Glenn. There’s not even live-in help.
Ruby states, “He’s eating crap. It’s just crap… because crap costs less.”
Elizabeth agreed to the guardianship, but she thought it was temporary, a way to protect Glenn from having to testify.
In October of 2023, Glenn’s grandfather passes away. Glenn is allowed to attend the funeral with an escort, Adams promising in this letter to Elizabeth that he is “vetted.”
Daniel Willis has a lengthy criminal history, had been in and out of jail for drugs and alcohol, driving without a license, and was dishonorably discharged from the Navy.
Elizabeth fought back.
In September of 2024, Judge Stephens orders Glenn to a mental health facility, Monarch, in Houston’s Montrose neighborhood. Court records show Judge Stephens has said no to Glenn having his own attorney, someone to advocate for him, and only him.
It’s time to ask why.
Ruby says, “This is his legal right as a human, and he’s been denied.”
CareFor has total control.
“He needs CareFor to get out of his life.”
Elizabeth has been hiding out in Tennessee, where she is also fighting for guardianship over Glenn. But Judge Charles Stephens, all the way back in Texas, has taken an unusual and perhaps unethical interest in Elizabeth’s fight to get her son back.
Judge Stephens even placed a phone call to the Tennessee judge presiding over Elizabeth’s case, Judge David Briley.
In a court transcript:
“Received a call from Judge Stephens in Texas… offering to give him some background about the case.”
Describing the phone call as “unusual” and that it will have “no impact on his ability to hear this case or to determine it in a fair or impartial manner.”
The Tennessee case is still pending.
And that’s why we went to the New Braunfels court to confront the judge.
Judge Stephens came out guarded by his bailiff.
Looks like he’s recording me too.
“We’re also investigating an allegation made to us by the Weston family that the courts are retaliating against Elizabeth for her investigation and complaints. Can you address that? Not the specific case.”
“No comment.”
“Well, that’s a pretty serious charge.”
“No comment, thank you.”
And we wanted to know what he’s done to ensure CareFor is caring for Glenn, not hurting him.
“Are you concerned about CareFor?”
“No comment.”
Ask yourself: Why would this Texas judge intervene in Tennessee justice?
Let’s go back to 2008.
Elizabeth Weston says she uncovered evidence New Braunfels city officials manipulated public contracts by steering them toward preferred bidders while also violating the Texas Open Meetings Act. There were allegations of bribery, and some of the names are now judges.
The case ultimately resulted in a jury verdict that found fraud had occurred and ruled in her family’s favor. There were headlines in San Antonio.
The city lost appeals, and in 2020 the Texas Supreme Court sent the case back to Comal County.
It could have gotten real ugly.
Among the names Weston accused of fraud was Bruce Boyer. At the time he was a three-term mayor. By the time the jury verdict returned, he was the newly installed sitting district judge in Comal County.
Elizabeth apparently believes the judges in this courthouse have been retaliating ever since against her and her son because they do what this guy wants.
Graham Weston is Elizabeth’s husband, who owned Rackspace Technology. Overnight the Weston family got very rich, more powerful in this small German-influenced town.
But Graham’s ex-wife, Elizabeth Weston, claimed in court papers that it came with a moral cost.
Elizabeth says Graham was living a double life.
In July of ’21, Elizabeth’s lawyer filed an explosive motion for sanctions against Graham, calling him a bully.
“What does a powerful billionaire do after he is exposed by his wife as an adulterer, porn addict, sexual deviant, spousal abuser, and rapist?”
Alleged bruises and sex devices were documented in the court pleadings. The case is still active. In his response, Graham Weston ignored the allegations.
Glenn said he started speaking out too.
“I was trying to defend my mom. Make sure he might pay for something, know that someone’s there willing to stand up to him.”
In that same motion for sanctions, Graham was accused of trying to institutionalize his son against his will.
Elizabeth’s dear friend thinks it was to shut Glenn up.
“This was the way to keep his son down and to tell everybody he’s a mental case, don’t believe anything he has to say. But that is not true.”
In October of 2020, Elizabeth filed for divorce against Graham in Comal County, stating she suffered years of psychological, physical, and sexual abuse.
Her judge was Dib Waldrip, the former Comal County DA.
“And she tells him, ‘Your Honor, I’m sorry, but you have to recuse yourself.'”
Waldrip insists he can be fair.
“Nothing that she asked for was ever granted,” says Ruby. “I mean she literally was just browbeat to the very end.”
Elizabeth was left with not much. No spousal support, no house, a used car.
Remember that government corruption lawsuit Elizabeth had filed against city officials.
The year after the divorce was filed, Texas Secretary of State records show Elizabeth was taken off the management of Chupacabra Ranch, the general partner for CaroWest Land.
We know Glenn Weston eventually dropped the lawsuit, even though their company appeared to be winning. Court records show it was nonsuited just 16 days before a jury gave Graham that big win in the divorce case.
That ended the fight to expose New Braunfels city officials, including the newest district judge.
We’d ask him about the curious timing of all this legal stuff, but Graham Weston has ignored us.
But we know the legal fight to let CareFor run Glenn’s life wasn’t over.
Judge Stephens granted a third-party guardianship permanently. That was CareFor.
A lot of Glenn’s trust money was used to pay them. It’s a payday that will likely last for decades.
Millions for this one guy.
Glenn is now at an isolated ranch owned by his father in Marion, Texas.
“They’ll say I’m paranoid, bipolar, schizophrenic, depressed, and manic. They’ll say that. They’ve changed my diagnosis so many times that I’m not even sure what it is,” says Glenn.
Maybe it’s time for the judge to get Glenn an independent doctor too.
Or is Glenn meant to just wander on this property for the rest of his life? A few rooms, when his dad is a billionaire.
“How does a parent do that?” asks Ruby. “How do you know that your child is laying there screaming in pain and you don’t get off your ass and do something.”
