“FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – HOUSTON, September 25, 2020

STATEMENT FROM JOE DANNA, HARRIS COUNTY SHERIFF CANDIDATE

From beginning to end, the botched raid in Northwest Harris County has been a leadership failure, not an officer failure. It’s been three weeks since the Rodriguez family’s door was knocked down with a battering ram and yet neither the family nor the citizens of Harris County have an answer as to why this mistake was made.

Ed Gonzalez’s lack of meaningful response to this botched raid when our country is divided over law enforcement is a grave lack of leadership and frankly, negligent, but no surprise from the “do nothing” Harris County Sheriff.

It is disappointing that Ed Gonzalez can’t make an apology or comment on the incident. How can the citizens of Harris County trust him? It’s no wonder people are afraid to open their doors.

It’s the Sheriff’s job to not only keep Harris County safe, but to own up to mistakes when they are made.

When I’m Sheriff, I will not only take responsibility for incidents like this, I will take every necessary step to ensure the public that I am going to fix it.”
