FEDERAL JUDGE SENDS A MESSAGE IN BRAZIL CASE

A federal judge has signed an order for restitution against the Brazilian grandparents involved in the international kidnapping case of a Houston boy, that continues to make headlines.
It looks like the real message in this punishment was sent to federal prosecutors.
Federal prosecutors had wanted Carlos and Jemima Guimaraes to pay up to $1.4 million to the boy’s father, Houston doctor Chris Brann. Federal Judge Alfred Bennett was clearly unimpressed by the evidence.
The restitution order that was signed awarded Brann just $36,000.
“There is insufficient evidence to determine the purposes of Dr. Brann’s individual flights to Brazil, the durations of his trips, his lodging expenses, his security expenses, his hourly rates from 2013 to 2017, and his ‘off’ weeks from 2013 to 2017,” noted the judge.
Brann endured a brutal cross-examination at the hands of the Guimaraes couple’s defense attorney, Rusty Hardin. In recent months, documents obtained by Dolcefino Consulting detail evidence of physical abuse by the Houston doctor and graphic emails he was sexually triggered by some of the female patients he was caring for. Harris Health System is now fighting to hide Brann’s records.
“The federal government has already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars prosecuting grandparents for simply helping their daughter escape domestic violence,” says Wayne Dolcefino, a spokesman for Marcelle Guimaraes, the woman at the center of this child custody drama.
“This whole case is an insult to victims,” says Dolcefino. “Wouldn’t you help your daughter if you knew she was being attacked? The Justice Department has seen the evidence of the horrible injustice done in the divorce case that led Marcelle to flee to Brazil. It’s time for an investigation of the Harris County Family Court System instead.”

Judge Bennett will soon issue his final sentencing order in the case. Carlos and Jemima Guimaraes will report soon to serve their prison sentences. Jemima Guimaraes will serve one month. Carlos Guimaraes will serve three months.
“Marcelle and Nico are safe in Brazil. Maybe now, Dr. Brann will understand the damage he has done. Nico knows his own father helped send his grandparents to prison,” says Dolcefino.
