Legalizing marijuana in Texas gets closer

Dolcefino Communications client, The Ogg Law Firm, comments on how The Texas House Of Representatives Jurisprudence Committee approved a bill five to one that would make marijuana a legal crop.
“The figures are shocking in 7 years a hundred thousand Houstonians were arrested prosecuted and convicted for less than 2 ounces of marijuana,” said former prosecutor and crime stoppers director Kim Ogg.
Ogg says all those arrests come with a hefty price tag.
She estimates the Harris County Criminal Justice System spends 10 million dollars a year prosecuting pot smokers.
“So we’re looking at about a hundred million dollars in wasted expense where we’ve got limited public resources,” Ogg says.
