Justice for Caden Crow
Our family has read the Bryan Police Department’s statement regarding the shooting death of our son, Caden Crow. While the Department may consider its statement an explanation of its actions, it does not change what our family has been forced to live with since May 2, 2026:
Caden is dead, and no one has been held accountable for his death.
By the Department’s own statement, alcohol was a contributing factor. Officers documented indicators of intoxication. Witnesses provided information that Charlie Boggan had been drinking before the shooting. The Department acknowledges that the firearm was handled in an unsafe manner and that investigators believed the evidence supported presenting a charge of criminally negligent homicide.
Those facts matter.
Our fight has always been about accountability for the actions that caused his death. An act does not have to be intentional to have criminal consequences.
Much has been made of the statements Caden gave at the hospital, including that he did not want anyone to go to jail and that he believed the person who shot him was a good person.
But there is something critically important about those words that should never be forgotten:
Caden was 22 years old. He had just been shot. He was bleeding, struggling to breathe, in tremendous pain, MEDICATED and fighting for his life.
He did not know he was going to die.
He did not know what would happen in the hours, days and months that followed. He did not have the opportunity to review the evidence, hear the accounts given to police, recognize what our family believes were inconsistencies and untruthful statements, or see everything his family would eventually learn.
What Caden did know in that moment was how to be Caden.
Compassionate. Forgiving. Grateful. Concerned about everyone around him—even while he was the one desperately needing help.
In portions of the footage that many people have not seen, Caden is lying there critically wounded, bleeding and struggling to breathe, yet he is thanking the police officers and EMS personnel who are trying to save his life.
That was Caden.
That was the huge heart our son had.
Even during one of the most terrifying and painful moments of his life, he was thinking about other people. He was kind. He was compassionate. He was grateful.
And because he was a good person, please do not use his goodness against him.
Caden saying, “I don’t want him to go to jail,” does not determine whether a crime occurred. Caden describing someone as a “good person” does not determine criminal responsibility. And Caden showing compassion toward the person whose actions resulted in his fatal injury should never substitute for an independent determination of whether those actions violated the law.
A dying 22-year-old’s compassion is not a legal determination of accountability.
And I know my son.
I believe with everything in me that if Caden could see everything that has happened since that night—if he could hear the statements that we believe were untruthful, see the behavior that followed his death, and know the questions his family has been left fighting to have answered—he would feel very differently today.
Had Caden survived, he would have had the opportunity to learn everything that happened, review the facts and tell his own story.
He was robbed of that opportunity.
Caden cannot speak for himself anymore.
We can. And we will!
There are also serious questions surrounding this investigation that our family believes have never been adequately answered. After everything we have learned, reviewed and uncovered, we do not believe Caden received the thorough and impartial pursuit of justice that he deserved.
The more information that has come to light, the more concerned we have become about how this case was handled and why no one was ultimately held accountable.
Call it what you want. From where our family stands, justice was not served.
We will continue asking the questions that others may wish would simply go away. We will continue seeking transparency. We will continue challenging inconsistencies wherever we find them.
This is not about revenge.
It is about the life that was already taken.
Caden was a son. A brother. A friend. A pharmacy student. A coworker. A business owner. And a young man with an incredible future ahead of him.
He deserves better!!
We cannot bring Caden back. But we can make sure his voice is not lost simply because he is no longer here to speak for himself.
We are his voice now.
And we will continue fighting for the truth.
We will continue fighting for accountability.
And we will continue fighting for justice for Caden.
Justice was not served!
