The Galena Park Cover Up

We have a message to the Mayor of Galena Park.  Stop hiding the truth or resign.

Mayor Esmeralda Moya is hiding years of financial records from our investigation into the possible misappropriation of funds by Galena Park City Hall, including allegations water bills were changed for the Moya family.

“The Mayor’s campaign of illegal secrecy cannot stand. She must open up city hall immediately and let the people come to city council meetings, so their voices are heard,” said Wayne Dolcefino, President of the Houston based investigative media consulting firm.

The Mayor refused to let Dolcefino speak at a city council meeting June 15th in violation of the Texas Open Meetings Act.

“We followed state law to request to speak in public session to the citizens of Galena Park. They deserve better from Galena Park City Hall,” Dolcefino said.  “The Mayor and city secretary have ignored our e-mails and phone calls wanting to speak.”

Galena Park Finance Director Britique Williams claimed in June she knew nothing about our three-month old request for financial records. We have provided a tape of that conversation on the Dolcefino Consulting Facebook page.

Dolcefino Consulting has already filed a criminal complaint against the mayor and her city secretary for violations of state public records laws.

“After Galena Park tried to hide past due bills, we learned from the City of Houston Galena Park owed more than $700,000 in water bills. The city finally paid the bill after we found out,” Dolcefino said.

Among the records being withheld are bills from City Attorney Robert Collins.

“Mr. Collins knows darn well what the law is, and his job is to protect the citizens of Galena Park,” Dolcefino said.

“If we are forced to take legal action the bill will be sent to the citizens of Galena Park. Taxpayers need to rise up and take back city hall,” Dolcefino said.
