The Houston Housing Authority paved the way for more than a dozen new apartment complexes that promise to provide affordable housing, ignoring proof most of the apartments that have already gotten the tax windfall have ignored promises to prove they are following the rules.
The HHA has taken a whopping $1.2 billion in property off the tax rolls for decades to come, and they can’t tell you how many affordable apartments are even being used.
We won’t stop warning you, and them, although it’s clear the runaway HHA cares more about lining some folks’ pockets than transparency.
