Child care workers fired in transgender dispute

Christian author Madeline Kirksey says she was fired as the manager of a Katy area day care center because she refused to go along with parents who made a life-changing decision for their six year old girl in the middle of the school year.
They decided the little girl was instead now a little boy, sending her to school with shortened hair and a demand for the school to change her name.
Kirksey says her religious beliefs made her approval of the change impossible, and says she had a duty to protect the little girl from bullying that followed and help dozens of other children and their parents who deserved to be told about the change.
Her firing from the Children’s Lighthouse Learning Center has triggered a national firestorm amidst growing confusion in school houses across the country about handling very young transgender children and their parent’s choices.
Monday night, Kirksey appeared on the Megyn Kelly Show on the Fox network, and Tuesday morning will be joined by her attorney for a Houston news conference announcing her legal plans.
Kirksey has hired prominent Houston Attorney Andy Taylor, fresh off his legal victories challenging Houston’s H.E.R.O. ordinance and rain tax.
“Madeline has paid the price for standing her ground in defense of all her children at Children’s Lighthouse,” says Taylor. “This has gotten out of control and now this dedicated experienced child care worker has been wrongfully terminated. That will not stand.”
Taylor and his client will be available to the media at a news conference at 10:30 am at the Hilton Post Oak.
